The benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended the week's first business day with a marginal gain on Sunday.
The DGEN closed at 5106.77 points, up 7.86 points or 0.15 percent after a seesaw movement after initial gains in the first half an hour.
Shares and mutual funds worth around Tk 6.8 billion changed hands with prices of 91 issues advancing, 151 declining and 18 remaining unchanged.
Sunday's turnover was around Tk 1.58 billion higher than Thursday's.
Halfway through the day's trading, the DGEN reached 5158.95 points, gaining 60.04 points or 1.18 percent at 1:08pm. The key index gained 56 points within first five minutes of trading.
The index reached its highest point at 5177.22 points half an hour into trading, around 11:30am.
The DGEN ended last week's trade gaining 78 points. The turnover was around Tk 5.22 billion, which was the lowest in the week.
The general index gained around 109 points or 2.18 percent in the past week. The average daily transaction was around Tk 7.27 billion.
The week before, the general index had gained 231 points.
